I Love You More

Recently my husband and I celebrated* our 10 year wedding anniversary and as cheesy as it may sound I love that guy more and more with each passing day.  Sure the past 10 years haven't been argument free selfless bliss but through the ups and downs our love and respect for one another has truly grown.

Around year 7 God brought our beautiful children into our family and we learned that the love a parent has for their child is unique and beautiful.  We adore our children wholeheartedly.  We love them deeply and they know that they are loved beyond a shadow a doubt.  They also know that they don't hold the #1 place in our hearts.  We intentionally reserve that spot for one another.  Our culture often alludes otherwise, leading parents to draw the conclusion that child centered parenting is the way to go when in fact it tends to produce self centered kids.

My kids would tell you without batting an eye and with a huge grin that "Mommy loves God the most, next Daddy, and then ME!"  They get it.

I recently finished the book Grace Based Parenting by Dr. Tim Kimmel where he believes the key to raising healthy kids is providing them with a secure love, a significant purpose, and a strong hope.  We believe that  modeling grace and love through our relationship with one another is where it begins.  Striving to uphold our marriage covenant blesses not only ourselves and God's heart, but our children as well.   It's a natural overflow providing an environment for love,  hope, and  purpose to be planted and flourish in our children's lives.

Do we love our kids?  More than we could possibly begin to express and THAT is why we have chosen to keep our love for one another central believing our family and children will be better for it.
